Created during my residency graduate residency at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, Link/Path{broken}link is an interactive browser-based artwork and series of miniature stage-sets, which exsist both as physical sculptures and within the browser-based work.

Using fantasy world building as an exercise in navigating digital overload, eco-anxiety, burnout, and queer intimacy, I combined fragments of neo-medievalism in fantasy and RPGs, Digital Folklore, and self-mythologization to create melancholy fantasy worlds. Exploring a tension between physical and digital environments, the desolate environments are built up from 3D scans, model scenery, theatre props, and background imagery.

✨🌳🌳🌳⛰️🌳🌳✨
You move though the walls of a dilapidated path, through forests and swampy waters into overgrown ruins and abandoned stages. You are lost. The traces of presence have left the spaces stagnant.
Something was meant to happen, but it didn’t.
✨🌳🌳🌳🛤️🌳 🌳 🛤️ ✨
You are sinking into the earth.

My browser artwork 🔗Link/Path{broken} link⛓️ forms itself around the viewers choices though their mouse-movement and clicks. The continual movement of a user in online environments mimics a rhizomatic root system. There is no linear path, no definite start or end, just links and pages and links. 🔗Link/Path{broken} link⛓️ is an embrace of failure and getting lost, a wobbly non-linear search for connection and care through a travel into the unknown.

You move through a worm hole and end up in the place you started. You roam deeper, dreaming of abandoned castles and wet boglands, a place far away from reality. You feel queerness in searching for solutions in a game you don’t know how to play. You are on a quest with no start and no end.
